Tree plantation
Global deforestation has led to the decline of our planet’s forest area by over one-third it’s original size. Even after being aware of the effects of deforestation, global activities continue to result in the loss of 18 million hectares of forest area year by year which have significantly impacted our environment and eco-system in a negative way.
In order to restore the ecological balance and reverse the ill effects of deforestation, we believe that entire nations need to take a strong initiative at replanting trees on a large scale. At Panchakanya Group, we believe in contributing towards a greener Nepal through our tree plantation activities in different parts of the country in order to try and reduce our carbon footprint in every way possible.
As a part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, Panchakanya Group has been actively initiating tree plantation programs all over the country for over 5 years. Since our first plantation program on Mangsir 2071 BS, our team has planted over 495 trees of different varieties like Kapur, Sami, Jakharanda, Payu and Dhubi. Our tree plantations can be spotted in different areas of the valley such as Singhadurbar, Brikutimandap, Tripureshwor, Lainchowr, Kupondole and Jawalakhel. The primary reason behind plantation activities in these areas was due to the amount of pollution being generated as these roads are generally a lot busier and more polluted than other parts of the valley. We believe that the trees we have planted will in the long run help to clean the air and absorb toxic airborne particles in the area while simultaneous contributing to the greenery along the roads.
Panchakanya Group held a tree plantation program near Panchakanya RMC Factory, Thankot on 11th August, 2019. We were able to plant 160 trees alongside the highway which has one of the highest pollution levels in the area due to the higher frequency of heavy vehicles moving in and out of Kathmandu valley. We are hopeful that the trees we have planted help in promoting a cleaner environment in the surrounding area.
Panchakanya Group’s most recent tree plantation program took place on Siddhartha Highway on 22nd August 2019. The entire highway serves as a gateway to Bhairahawa and we planted around 1000 trees on a 2 kilometer stretch alongside the road which is one of the busiest roads in the region. The plantation program was carried out jointly with Tillottama Municipality who provided us with the Alistonia tree saplings
