Panchakanya Steel was established in 1982 with a 415 grade rebar and later introduced new technology from Germany, a process that is Thermo Mechanically Treated (TMT) for the first time in Nepal in 2002. Today TMT has become a standard for all rebars in Nepal since its introduction.

All Panchakanya billets are of prime materials having a specification of Carbon 0.17 - 0.23%, Manganese 0.70 - 0.90% and Supler & Phosphorous 0.035% max.
500XD and 550XD are extra ductile steel rebars. The number 500 and 550 indicates the minimum yield stress in N/mm2. The new Panchakanya XD rebars have high properties of elongation, stress ratio and load breaking capacity with basic characteristic strength as per
Higher bond strength
Higher bond strength is developed between the rebar and the surrounding concrete. The design and profile of the ribs and its replication throughout the length of the rebar by using automated milling machines, resulting in a uniform and precise ribs, leading to uniform strength.
Excellent bendability
Due to the controlled process of manufacturing XD rebar under temp core technology, the tough outer surface and the softcore of XD results in rebar with excellent values of bendability
Superior weldability
The XD rebar is produced with low carbon and carbon equivalent. The higher strength property is imparted by precisely controlling the thermo mechanical treatment to insure superior weldability
Higher corrosion resistance
The precise control of the thermo mechanical treatment process, results in a uniform and thick tempered martensitic rim, completely free from internal dresses. The martensitic rim improves the corrosion resistance of XD rebar as well as its fatigue strength
Super seismic resistance
Due to its unique combination of strength and ductility. XD rebar can adequately support seismic design. When evaluated for resistance to seismic load on columns joint in an RCC structure, the energy dissipating was found to be better for each cycle indicating very high and uniform ductility under such loads.
